Bowen Therapy is a holistic muscle and connective tissue treatment that aims to treat the root cause of a problem rather than just the symptoms.
The technique focuses on the soft connective tissue that separates, envelopes and influences every tissue and organ in the body. Rather than focusing on a single complaint, a Bowen practitioner addresses the entire body in an attempt to restore balance by way of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS controls over 80% of bodily functions and is very susceptible to external stressors.
Bowen therapy may be effective as a treatment or adjunctive therapy for a variety of acute and chronic conditions of musculoskeletal or neurological origin, including but not limited to: asthma, anxiety, digestive, menstrual and fertility issues, in addition to conditions affecting the pelvis, lumbar and thoracic spine, shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands, among others.
